Betty Richey

Betty Ruth Richey, of Portsmouth, passed away June 26, 2022 in Cincinnati, Ohio.  She was born on February 11, 1932 to the late Fred and Juanita Adams Ray.  Betty was a 1950 graduate of Lewis County High School and also a graduate of Portsmouth Interstate Business College.  She married James David Richey on June 30, 1952 and they were married for 47 very happy years.  Most of these years were spent in Sciotoville, where they raised their twin daughters Karen and Sharon.  In 1960, Betty became a member of the Sciotoville Christian Church.   She also attended Central Church of Christ in Portsmouth, where she was the Sunday School pianist for many years.

In addition to her parents and husband, Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia McCane, son-in-law, Jeff Danzer, and life-long friend, Jean Conley.  She is survived by daughters Karen Balogh and Sharon Danzer, grandchildren: Joseph (Melissa) Danzer, Missy (Greg Burns) Danzer, and Kristen (Robert) Leslie and great-grandchildren: Josiah Miller Danzer, Ava Rose Burns, and Clara Louise Leslie.

A Celebration of Betty’s Life will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 30th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Reverend Nancy Ross-Zimmerman officiating. Visitation will be at Brant’s from 11:00 a.m. until1:00 p.m.  Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Portsmouth.
