Bruce Ishmael White, 69, of Portsmouth, died Friday, March 29, 2013 in his bed at home. Born on July 3, 1943 in Ashland, KY, he was a son of the late William and Mary Ellen Poston White. Bruce was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a retired painter from Pikeville Methodist Hospital. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and most of all his pride and joy, Lulu his dog. Bruce was a most respectable man, a proud husband, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and caring friend to many. Surviving are his wife, Hattie Irene McCune White, whom he married on July 11, 1975, a daughter, Betty E. Poock of Portsmouth, four stepchildren, Raymond (Carol) Seymour of Mansfield, Tammy (Tom) Wyszynski of Canton, Ronnie E. Seymour of Dayton, and Rhonda G. Justice of Portsmouth, two sisters, Wilma Lother and Ruby Adkins, both of Ashland, KY, eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Also preceding him in death are two brothers, Arnold White and Billy White, three sisters, Violet Wolters, Charlene Kazee and Betty Callahan, and one grandson, Joshua A.D. Justice. A Celebration of Life will be held at Noon on Monday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the Rose Hill Burial Park in Ashland, KY, with military honors by the Kenova American Legion Post 93. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Sciotoville after 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
