Calvin Albert Yeley, 103, of New Boston, died Sunday, December 16, 2012 at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on July 4, 1909 in South Webster, he was a son of the late Frank and Io Hanes Yeley. Calvin was a shoe repairman, an Army veteran of WWII,was a member of the Central Church of Christ, Disabled American Veterans, and the James Dickey Post 23 of the American Legion. Also preceding him in death on July 22, 1989 was his wife, Mildred Puckett Yeley, whom he married on February 5, 1944 in Portsmouth, two brothers, Windell Yeley and Walter Yeley, and three sisters, Avanelle Morgan, Ada McGlone, and Minnie McCleese. Surviving are his nieces and nephews, Jane McCleese, Howard Dean (Sue) McCleese, and Ron McCleese, all of Eden Park, Dick (Susie) McCleese of Rosemount, Jim (Doris) McGlone of Sun City, AZ, Darrell (Connie) Yeley of Wheelersburg, Bettie Justice of New Boston, Patty Sloas of Wheelersburg, Joe Kitchen and Jerry Kitchen. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN PORTSMOUTH with Dennis Dawes, minister, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Portsmouth from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.
