Carla Sue Thomas, 65, of Gainesville, Florida, formerly of the Portsmouth area, went to be with her Lord and Savior surrounded by her family on Friday, December 3, 2021 at Haven Hospice. Born on November 5, 1956 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of Timothy and Sue Ramsey Johnson.
Carla attended Pentecostals of Gainesville and Portsmouth Apostolic Gospel Church and a was nurse for the Veterans Administration, where she enjoyed helping others. She lived a life dedicated to her church and to God.
Preceding her in death were her father, Timothy Johnson, the grandparents she loved dearly, Virgil and Marguerite Ramsey and a dear sister, Lori Browning.
Surviving are two sons, Elijah (Kayla) Tackett of Greenup, KY and Gabriel Thomas of Gainesville; three daughters, Cynthia Gee of Wheelersburg, Georgia Thomas of Gainesville and Tara Cooper of Perrysburg; her mother, Sue Jones of Logan, two sisters, Beth Ann Johnson of Texas and Tammy Biros of Indiana; three brothers, Rick Jones of Beaver, Chris Jones of Logan and Tim Johnson of Blackfork and the eleven grandchildren whom she was proud of and loved VERY much.
A Celebration of Carla’s Life will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 10th, at the Apostolic Gospel Church, 2037 Jackson Avenue in Portsmouth with Pastor Robert Coffey and Paster Jimmy Toney officiating.
The family will receive guests at the church from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
A funeral procession will leave the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday for a graveside service at the Memorial Burial Park.
