Carolyn Sue Walker, 60, of Sciotoville, passed away Friday, September 19, 2014, at her home, surrounded by family and friends. Born on October 19, 1953 in New Boston, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Flora Perry Harr. Carolyn was a school teacher at New Boston, Portsmouth and Minford, where she retired in 2013.
She was a member of Wheelersburg United Methodist Church, a 1971 graduate of Glenwood High School and was a member of the Retired Teacher’s Association. Carolyn was also a charter member of the “Gang of Girls”, which included Bev Baker, Diana Faires, Diana Holsinger, Barb Sandstrom, Pam Thompson, Vickie Fannin, Jerri Hickman and the late Nan Hill.
Surviving are her husband, B. Scott Walker; three sons, Adam (Missy) Kennard of Russell, KY, Jared (Stacie) Kennard of Wheelersburg, and Scottie Walker of Wheelersburg; four brothers, Wilbur Harr of Newark, Joe (Ruth) Harr of Pickerington, Paul (Barbara) Harr of Ft. Wayne, Indiana and Thomas (Jacque) Harr of Wheelersburg, and three special grandchildren, Kiera Kennard, Addison Kennard and Briar Kennard.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rev. Richard North officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Brant’s from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and one hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Hospital or SOMC Hospice.
