Cheryl Lynn Adkins, 64, of Portsmouth, went to meet her Savior early in the morning on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Cheryl was born to Howard and Betty Adkins on March 25, 1957.
After graduating from Minford High School in 1975, she moved to Columbus, where she went on to become a cosmetologist, and later worked for Bank One. Returning to Scioto County, Cheryl was employed by Lowe’s for nearly 30 years, retiring in 2019. Cheryl attended North Moreland Christian Baptist Church and Seventh Street Christian Baptist Church. She was extremely active in the Christian Baptist Association.
She loved traveling with her friends in Tennessee. If Cheryl wasn’t cooking in the kitchen, she was on either watching Hallmark movies or on the front porch reading. A woman of few words and a giving heart, she will be missed by all of those who loved her and called her “Aunt Cheryl”.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Adkins and Betty Lou (Clark) Adkins.
Surviving are her sisters, Pamela (Gregory) Shonkwiler of Portsmouth and Mary Beth (Ashley) McGlone of Etna; her niece Arrika (Daniel) Mains of Portsmouth; her nephews, Andrew (Faith) Shonkwiler of Portsmouth, Levi (Anna) McGlone of Canal Winchester and Noah McGlone of Etna; three great-nieces, Josie, Jenna and Noel; three great-nephews, Gunnar, Remington and Kase; a treasured cousin, Carolyn Arnett and many friends.
A service will be held at the convenience of the family with Ashley McGlone officiating. Interment will be in Wheelersburg Cemetery.
The family will receive guests at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Memorial gifts may be made to “Cheryl Lynn Adkins Legacy Fund” created by her nieces and nephews so her work on earth can continue. At this time, donations can be made to the Atomic Credit Union, currently under the care of Andrew Shonkwiler/Arrika Mains.
