Darrell W. Lore, 83, of Portsmouth, went to be with his Savior on Sunday, July 15, 2018, with his family by his bedside. Born on September 2, 1934 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Walter and Minnie Cartmill Lore and was a retired welder for Custom Steel for over 10 years.
Darrell was a faithful member of Bonser Run Christian Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was also formerly employed as a glazer for Portsmouth Glass Co. and enjoyed making custom light houses. Above all, he loved his God and family dearly.
Also preceding him in death were three brothers, Stan, Ed and Sherman Lore and six sisters, Annie Rossiter, Betty Burke, Stella LaDow, Mary Bender, Edith Etterling and Alta Mae Thompson.
Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Wanda Phillips Lore, three sons, Kevin Lore of Portsmouth, Tony (Paula) Lore of Lucasville and Greg (Lana) Lore of Portsmouth; a daughter, Vicki Blackburn of Wheelersburg; a brother, George (Mary Ann) Lore of Portsmouth; a sister, Joy (Harry) Oaks of Middletown; ten grandchildren, including caregiver Ashley Lore and seven great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Darrell’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rev. Jack Lore officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
