Denny Fankell, 75, of Wheelersburg, died Sunday evening, October 24, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born on November 30, 1945 in Sciotoville, he was a son of the late Albert and Helen Imes Fankell and was a retired lab technician for the Portsmouth Filtration Plant.
Denny was a member of Berean Baptist Church, graduated from Portsmouth High School and an avid sportsman, including fishing. He was a 50-year member of Western Sun Masonic Lodge #91, Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite and was a proud United States Navy veteran of the Viet Nam War.
Also preceding Denny in death were a brother, Curtis Fankell and a sister, Doris “Dodi” Kinker.
Surviving are his wife, Beverly Hamilton Fankell, his children, Melissa (Tim) Jackson, Luke Fankell of Minford and Larry Fankell Hieneman of NC; five grandchildren, Loran Spradlin, Jacob Spradlin, Leann Spradlin, Paula (Peyton) Risner and Holly Jackson and a great-granddaughter, Miayah Raine.
A service will be held at noon on Friday, October 29th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Matt Mayhew officiating. Interment will be in South Webster Cemetery with military honors by the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. A masonic service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital.
The flags on the avenue, along with the United States Navy flag, will fly in honor of our proud veteran Dennis Fankell.
