Donald Sowards

Donald R. Sowards, 66, of Friendship, died Monday, September 1, 2014, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born on November 17, 1947 in Friendship, he was a son of the late Adolph and Ruth Ratcliff Sowards and retired from the maintenance department for Norfolk and Southern Railroad with 33 years of service.
Also preceding him in death were brothers, Roger, Paul, Russell and Bill and sisters, Eileen Kathleen, Norma Lee, Janet, Deloris and his twin sister, Kay.
Surviving are his wife, Debra Bowling Sowards, a son, Russell Sowards, and a sister, Jean Atkins.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE. Interment will be in Worley’s Run Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brant’s after 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
