Dori Lou Wood, 71, of Portsmouth, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, at Pristine Senior Living. Born on December 6, 1946 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Ruth Adams Boldman and was a former child care provider for West End Day Care.
A 1965 graduate of Portsmouth High School, Dori received an associate degree in sociology at Shawnee State College, and received her E.M.T. certification from the State of Ohio. She was a previous E.M.T. for Portsmouth Ambulance Service and Medic Transport. She was co-president of the former Wilson Elementary P.T.O. and a member of the P.H.S. band boosters. But, most importantly, she was a homemaker, great mom, and a super grandma.
Dori was also preceded in death by a brother, Buddy Boldman.
Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Charles Joseph Wood, two daughters, Dawn Purtee and Jessica (Dustin) Dekarske, all of Portsmouth; a sister, Marcie Boldman Hammonds of Portsmouth; a granddaughter, Madison, and five grandsons, Zacharie, Ivan, Ryker, Napoli and Jeter; a niece, Jennifer Hammonds; a great niece, Alison Hammonds; special cousin, Bob (Sandy) Boldman and a special friend, Ruth Bloomfield.
A service will TENTATIVELY be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE.
A gathering at Brant’s will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
