Dorothy I. Craft Kennedy, 89, formerly of Portsmouth, recently living with her daughter in Akron, went to be with her Lord on September 17, 2011. Born January 9, 1922 in Firebrick, KY, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Bertha Ann Middaugh, was a homemaker and a member of Seventh Street Christian Baptist Church in Portsmouth. Also preceding her in death were her husbands, Charles B. Craft and Clarence Kennedy; a son, Frank, 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Surviving are two sons, Charles (Phyllis) Craft and Calvin (Sarah) Craft, all of Portsmouth; four daughters, Clara JoAnn (Tom) Gostlen and Mary K. Wood, all of Akron, Bertha Ruch of Sciotoville and Dianna L. Craft of Portsmouth, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Mike Bender officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Kentucky. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Portsmouth after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday.
