Dorothy Whisman

Dorothy L. Whisman, 86, of Powellsville, died Sunday August 14, 2011, in the Southern Ohio Medical Center emergency room. Born May 18, 1925 in Scioto County, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Bessie Lewis Smith, was a homemaker and member of Plymouth Heights Church of the Nazarene. Also preceding her in death were her husband, James Curtis Whisman. Surviving are sons Raymond (Naomi) Whisman of Lancaster, Wayne (Barbara) Whisman, Fred (Kay) Whisman and Gerald (Angie) Whisman, all of Columbus, and Ralph “Ed” Whisman of Portsmouth; daughters, Linda (Charlie) Colegrove of Waverly, Reda Kay Whisman of Powellsville and Alice Weaver of Powellsville, 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandson. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Pastor Tim Throckmorton officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Burial Park.
