Edward P. Taylor, 75, of Sciotoville, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from Riverside Hospital in Columbus. Born on March 19, 1948, in Newark, he was a son of the Rev. Lester Taylor and Lois Leonard Taylor and was a former manager at Super Quik and manager of the former Millhuff’s Grocery.
Eddie was a member and Sunday School teacher of Lucasville Church of God and pastored 30 years at the Apostolic Lighthouse in Ironton.
A proud U.S. Navy veteran, he served on the U.S.S. Decatur during the Vietnam War. During his service he was the designated swimmer for downed pilots.
Also preceding him in death were a brother, Tom Taylor, a sister, Jean Ann Hoy, and a precious granddaughter, Sarah Hannah.
Surviving is his wife, Marilyn Jean Millhuff Taylor, two daughters, Angela Hannah of Lloyd, KY, and Kim (Jon) Hensley of Sciotoville; a sister, Linda (Kevin) Hege of Ft. Wayne, IN; six wonderful grandchildren, Rancie (Emily) Hannah, Erika Hensley, Daniel (Alex) Hensley, Jessica (Cody) Spence, Lauren Hannah and Trenton Hannah and two very special great-grandchildren, Lacie Hannah and Quinten Hannah.
A Celebration of Eddie’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 5th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rick Ratliff officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park with military honors by the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday.
The American flags, along with the U.S. Navy flag, will fly on the avenue in honor of our brave Vietnam veteran, Edward Taylor.
