Geraldine Rhodes Weeks, 95, of North Moreland, went to be with her Lord on Monday, April 2, 2018, at her daughter’s home. Born on April 1, 1923 in Kenova, WV, she was a daughter of the late Frelen and Cora Thacker Riggs and was employed at the former Williams Manufacturing Company.
Gerry was a loyal member of Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene in Wheelersburg, where she taught 3rd grade Sunday School for 33 years and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was awarded the Outstanding Lay Person of the Year from the Central Ohio District Church of the Nazarene. Gerry had a warm smile for everyone and was crazy about her church family, friends and especially her grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her husbands, Robert Rhodes, Sr. and Walter Weeks; a daughter, Pamela Parsley; three brothers, Frelen Riggs, Jr., Williams Riggs and Donald Riggs and a sister, Mary Katherine Riggs.
Surviving are a daughter, Nancy (Charles) Brisker of Wheelersburg; a son, Robert (Teresa) Rhodes Jr. of South Bend, Indiana; two stepsons, Wayne Weeks of Ponce de Leon, Florida and Mike (Suzanne) Weeks of Dallas, WV; a son-in-law, James Parsley of Lecanto, Florida; a brother, Jack (Jean) Riggs of Wheelersburg; ten grandchildren, Bethany (Brad) Stockton of Owosso, MI, Rebecca (Pete) Ryder of Medina, Leah (Rich) Shockey of Kansas City, Kansas, Laura (Elhamy) Lawndy of Waldorf, MD, Amy (Kevin) Oakes of Elkhart, Indiana, Sarah (Matthew) Hauck of Nappanee, Indiana, Anthony Rhodes of South Bend, Indiana, James (Erica) Parsley of Minford, Jessica (Mark) Spriggs of Lecanto, Florida and Katie (Joel) Stieg of Columbus; sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A Celebration of Gerry’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 6th, at Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Pete Ryder, Rev. Brad Stockton and Rev. Matt Hancock officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive guests at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorial gifts may be made to SOMC Hospice or the Nazarene Compassionate Ministries.
