Jack McGlone, 87, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 and was preceded in death by his parents, Epp and Hazel (Harris) McGlone, and an infant sister, Wilma Ann.
A 1954 graduate of East High School, he was a faithful and active member of Wheelersburg Church of Christ. He started his career as a Portsmouth city police officer, serving 15 years, and then accepted a position with the steel in mill in New Boston in the safety and security department. Upon the closing of the New Boston mill, he and Elaine moved to Mansfield and continued to work for the mill until his retirement in 1997. They moved back to Sciotoville to enjoy their family and travel the country in their motor home.
Jack enjoyed watching his great-grandchildren participate in their many sporting events, gardening, solving the world’s problems at Jenkins Sunoco station, and visiting the airport once a week for beans. Most of all he loved the many family gatherings and sitting on his porch visiting with his neighbors and waiting on his mailman, Shane. He was full of love, good advice, great stories, and the best friend anyone could want.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Elaine (Benner) McGlone, three daughters, Debra Willliams of Sciotoville, Diana (Chris) Seidel of Wheelersburg and Donna (Joe) VanDeusen of Wheelersburg; four grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) VanDeusen of Portsmouth, Megan Large of Wheelersburg, Jessica (Andrew) Ruggles of South Shore, KY and Christopher Seidel of The Villages, Fla. and seven great-grandchildren, Kaylee VanDeusen, Easton Large, Jackson Ruggles, Kamden VanDeusen, Lainey Ruggles, Landon Ruggles and Elias Ruggles.
A Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with burial in Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
