James Baker

James A. Baker, 89, of Portsmouth, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at Hill View Healthcare. Born on January 30, 1928 in Adams County, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Icie Chamblin Baker. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Juanita Kidder Baker and four sisters, Virginia Robinson, Iona McGraw, Irene Williams and Ida Williams.
Surviving are two sons, Ron (Priscilla) Baker of Lucasville and Donald (Dorcy) Baker of Portsmouth; two daughters, Patricia (Jay) Saunders of West Carrolton and Tuana Scott of Portsmouth; a sister, Shirley Lacy of West Union; fifteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 18th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Ron Baker officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
