Janet Adkins-Gregory, 66, of Portsmouth, died Sunday, February 19, 2012 in Merritt Island, FL after an extended battle with cancer. Born May 12, 1945 in New Boston, she was a daughter of the late Andy and Pearl Ricks Adkins. Surviving are her husband, Carl Gregory, Jr., five children, Carl Gregory III of Mims, FL, Debbie Fulk of South Webster, Robin Berry of Cody, WY, Ryan Gregory of Portsmouth and Delia Twells of Waverly, five granddaughters, Sarah, Ellen, Michelle, Keira and Emma, three grandsons, Luke, Dustin and Chris, two great-granddaughters, Grace and Callie, brothers, Bobby Adkins of Newark, Veral Adkins of Columbus, Andy Adkins, Ray Adkins and Gobele Adkins, all of South Webster, and sisters, Lou Arnett, GeorgeAnn Sowards, Bonnie Harden and Deamie Slack, all of South Webster, and Jeanie Whitlock of Albany, and stepmother, Rosie Adkins of South Webster. Also preceding her in death were brothers, Dewey Adkins, Billie Adkins and David Adkins, and sisters, Marie Meadows, Ruby Sutherland, Elva Gregory, Birdie Wiley and Hazel Schultz. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rev. Don Noel officiating. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Sciotoville from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice.
