Janice Smith

Janice A. Smith, 75, of Sciotoville, died peacefully Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center with her family by her bedside. Born on June 3, 1942 in Clarktown, she was a daughter of the late Edward H. Shephard and Thelma M. Powell Shephard and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Sciotoville.
Janice was a teacher for Valley schools and Portsmouth City Schools, with 32 years of total service.
Also preceding her in death were her brother, David E. Shephard.
Surviving are her husband, Jim “Snuffy” Smith; a daughter, Jennifer (Scotty) Thompson of Wheelersburg and her beloved grandson, Jeb Thompson.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 8th at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Rev. John Richard and Rev. Richard North officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
