Jennings “Fergie” Ferguson, 86, of Wheelersburg, went to be with his LORD on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born January 1, 1926 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Asbury and Celia Johnson Ferguson, was a retired conductor for the Norfolk & Southern Railroad, a member of Western Sun Masonic Lodge #91 and Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite. Fergie was a proud member of Berean Baptist Church and a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the U.S.S. Otter (DE-210). His destroyer escort sank the first German submarine of the war. Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Carol Sue Ferguson, a brother, Bill Ferguson, and sisters, Elsie Horcher, Louise Beckman, Eva Bee and Lorraine Bailey. Surviving are his wife, Juanita Hay Ferguson, five daughters, Brenda (Jim) Preston of Wheelersburg, Connie (Dan) Kaltenbach of Grove City, Debra (Kurt) Thompson of Stout, Viki Ferguson of Wheelersburg and Shelli (Joe) Cottrell of Charlotte, NC; 10 grandchildren, Todd, Dana, Angela, Ashley, Adam, Andrew, Alex, Tyler, Gage and Joeli, and 6 great-grandchildren, Tanner, Shelby, Ayden, Noah, Alaina and Reese. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Berean Baptist Church with Pastor Kevin Gullion officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion. The family will receive friends at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday. A Masonic service will be held at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice or Berean Baptist Church.
