Joenita “Jody” Knapp, 66, of Sciotoville, died Friday, August 30, 2013, at The SOMC Hospice Center. Born on May 12, 1947 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of Carl and Jessie Newsome Ruggles and a former home health care aid.
Preceding Jody in death were her father, Carl Ruggles, and a sister, Kimberly Gifford. Surviving are two sons, James R. Knapp of Columbus and Tyquone Knapp at home, a daughter, Latieka Knapp at home, her mother, Jessie Newsome Ruggles of Sciotoville, four brothers, Carl R. Ruggles and Martin Ruggles, both of Sciotoville, Vernon (Anna) Ruggles of Swauger Valley and Darrell (Bird) Ruggles of Indiana, three sisters, Susan (Stanley) Lawhorn of Elyria, Deborah Scott of Portsmouth and Delzia (Jerry) Jones of Sciotodale, 5 grandchildren and a great-grandson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday at Porter Township Community Park with Pastor Carla Coleman officiating.
