John R. Paulin, 87, of Sciotoville, died Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on August 10, 1927 in Dover, he was a son of the late Rudy and Emma Hammer Paulin, and was a master mechanic through the Operator Engineers #18. John was a Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the Clan #1 Outhouse #3 of the Hillbillies, and was a member of the James Dickey Post #23 American Legion and its 40/8, Portsmouth Eagles, New Boston Eagles and Knights of Columbus. John was also a mason, belonging to Aurora Lodge #48.
Also preceding him in death was a brother, Bill Paulin.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Pauletta Mingus Paulin, a son, Jeff (Joyce) Paulin of Akron; four daughters, Diana (Bob) Katzenmeyer of Akron, Lynn (Matt) Holtzapfel of Marysville, Pam Higgins of Rosemount and Jackie Bramblette of Marysville; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Donnie Cox as moderator. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be rendered the James Dickey Post and 40 and 8. The family will receive friends at Brant’s from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 on Saturday. A masonic service will be 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice.
