Joy E. Carmichael , 70, of Portsmouth, formerly of Wheelersburg, went to be with her Lord, encircled by her three loving daughters. Born on September 27, 1943 in Powellsville, she was a daughter of the late William and Catherine Rice Carter, and was a member of Sand Hill Christian Baptist Church. Joy was an avid camper, enjoyed quilting and sewing, and especially enjoyed being involved with family activities.
Also preceding her in death was a brother-in-law, Paul Toland.
Surviving are three daughters, Tamela (Dottie Conley) Carmichael of Jackson, Catherine (Jim) Widdig of Wheelersburg and Hope (Nathan) Blizzard of South Webster, two brothers, Robert (Pauline) Carter of Franklin Furnace and Steve Carter of Greenup, KY, five sisters, Jane (Manuel) Harper, Karen (Mike) Percell, Sharon (James) Layher, and Rose Carter, all of Wheelersburg and Kim Toland of South Webster, four grandchildren, J. D. Widdig, Katie Widdig, Mason Blizzard, Brady Blizzard and Brittanie, Briawna, Braiden and Brandon Thompson.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rev. Ronnie Blevins officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Brant’s from 5 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice.
