Larry Bryant

Larry Joe Bryant, age 62, of Portsmouth, went to be with his Lord on December 6, 2011, after a battle with cardiac and respiratory illnesses, Larry died peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Born on February 15, 1949 in Pike County, KY, he was a son of the late Walter (Bud) and Juanita Bryant. Larry attended Greenup Schools and was retired from the N & S Railroad. He leaves behind a family that includes his wife, Kathrine (Kathy) Stiltner Bryant, his children: Rhonda (Greg) Bentley, Walter (Alysha) Bryant, Vernon (Tonya) Sowards , Billy Jo Sowards and Marie Anderson; grandchildren Nathan (Amber) Bentley, Reese Bentley, Nevaeh Bryant, Brittany Sowards, Tyler Sowards, Kiara Sowards, Isaac Anderson and Austin (AJ) Tindall. Also surviving are his siblings: Terry (Rita) Bryant of Greenup, Clara Sue (Rick) Kouns of Ashland, Jane (Chuck) Wright of Ashland, Loretta Jean Cooper of Portsmouth and Lisa (Richard) Bailey of Lebanon Junction, KY, in addition to many other nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives that will truly miss him. Larry was a member of the Little Jewel Old Regular Baptist Church in Westwood, KY and attended the 7th Street Christian Baptist Church in Portsmouth, and was blessed to be a part of both congregations in prayer and worship. Larry was an inspiration to all with his testimony and Christian spirit to The Lord. The family will receive friends at Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday. A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Little Jewel Old Regular Baptist Church in Westwood, KY with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
