Leonard L. Ramey, 91, of Sciotoville, died Saturday, October 16, 2010, at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born August 21, 1919 in Scioto County, he was a son of the late Jefferson and Pearl Williams Ramey and was a retired chemical operator for Goodyear Atomic Corp with 30 years of service. Leonard was an Army veteran of World War II, union steward for Goodyear, land developer, and a member of the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Janet Swords Ramey; two daughters, Sandra (B.I.) Maynard of Portsmouth and Connie (Stan) Bracken of Cincinnati; a stepdaughter, Sherry (Mike) Roffe of Wheelersburg; three grandchildren, John Shepherd, Eric Green, and Lara Green; three stepgrandchildren, Chad, Amber, and Andrew Roffe. Also preceding him in death were a stepdaughter, Constance Sommers; brothers, Floyd, Carl, Arthur, Charlie and Robert Ramey and Albert Remy; and sisters, Frances Mershon and Hattie Ferguson. A funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville with Rev. Cline McAllister officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by the James Dickey Post. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Sciotoville form 5-8 p.m. on Thursday.
