Louise Thompson Hammond, 72, of McDermott, died Friday, September 16, 2011, at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on May 1, 1939 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Edrie Dugan Thompson and former manager of Eleventh Street Family Dollar Store. Also preceding her in death were two daughters, Pamela Marie Hammond and Treasa Dawn Hammond. Surviving are a son, Ronald Lee Hammond, Jr. of McDermott, a daughter, Ronda (Randy) Sissel of Otway, four grandchildren; Michael Dawn (Caleb) England of WA, Ronald Lee Hammond III of Cincinnati, Zachary Ryan Sissel of Huntington, WV and Shirese Sissel of Otway, a great-granddaughter, Daria England and three sisters; June Heath, Jane Watson and Anita Holtman, all of Baltimore, MD. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Don Hammond officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Portsmouth after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice.
