Marilyn Kay Messer , 73, formerly of Sciotoville, died Saturday, February 15, 2014, in Chillicothe. Born on July 23, 1940 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Kathryn Veneer Fowler and was a former chemist for Mead Research in Chillicothe. Marilyn formerly attended Calvary Baptist Church in Portsmouth and presently attended Church Triumphant in Chillicothe.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Randall Wayne Messer and a nephew, Shawn Grashel.
Surviving are a son, Russell Kenneth (Kelli) Messer of Painesville, three daughters, Anita Kay (Bryan) Corbin and Kristin Michelle Hughes, all of Chillicothe and Tracy Lynn Messer of Clearwater, Fla., two sisters, Judy Grashel of Sciotoville and Kathy Fowler of Wheelersburg, seven grandchildren, Katelyn Cosenza, Ryan Messer, Dylan Hughes, Patrick Corbin, Karissa Messer, Andrew Corbin and Rebekah Corbin, and a newly arrived great-grandson, Jayden McCoy. Also surviving are two nephews, Mark (Angie) Grashel and Nick (Lucretia) Shepherd, and a niece Katie Shepherd.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Aaron Hines officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.
