Marion B. Johnson, 80, of Portsmouth, died Friday, August 27, 2010 at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on August 12, 1930 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Norma Francisco Staten. Marion was a homemaker and former volunteer at the Lakeside Community Church clothing ministry, and attended the Rubyville Community Church. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Earl Johnson, two sons, Earl “Butch” Stapleton and Robert Joseph Johnson, four brothers, Joseph, Ralph, Don, and Edward “Sonny” Staten, and three sisters, Barbara Jane Birdwell, Opal Stetsigner and Marcella Staten. Surviving are two sons, Paul J. (Susie) Stapleton of Anderson, IN and Kevin E. (Angela) Johnson of Portsmouth, one stepdaughter, Krys Baumgartner, one sister, Marjorie Staten of Portsmouth, seven grandchildren, Stacy, Heather, Misti, Kristin, Keileigh, J.R., and Destiny, and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Calvin Ray Evans, Brian Bear, and Rodney Kincaid, officiating. Interment will be in McKendree Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Portsmouth from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to SOMC Hospice.
