Mary Kathryn Lemaster

March 10, 1939 — January 29, 2025

Mary went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 29, 2025, at the age of 85. She was born March 10, 1939, to James and Sarah (Shonkwiler) Smith at home in Sciotoville, Ohio. Mary married the love of her life, Harold R. Ockerman, on September 17, 1956. Together they were blessed with three children, Margaret, Steven, and Richard. She married her second great love and companion, John Lemaster, on December 6, 2022.  

She is survived by her husband, John Lemaster, two younger siblings James L. (Reina) Smith and Barbara Ockerman, her Children, Margaret Claxon and Richard Ockerman, eight grandchildren, Sarah (Jerrie) Goodenough, Mary (Billy) Hayes, Melissa (John) Koch, Katie (Justin) Smith, Adam (Lacey) Ockerman, Erin (Anthony) Holston, Walter (Becca) Ockerman and Nathan Ockerman, 16 great-grandchildren, 

Makayla (Ethan), Holly (Todd), Raylee, Wyatt (Amber), Abigale, Kennlea, Lily, Marshall, Paisley, Gabriel, Collin, Avery, Betty, Bohdi, Blue and Emerald, as well as three great-great grandchildren, Lacey, Amelia, and Callum, a brother-in-law, Joseph Fleshman, a sister-in-law Karol Sue (Ockerman) Dummit, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.  

Mary was a fashionista who loved to work in her flowerbeds and spend as much time as possible outside in the sunshine. She enjoyed life to the fullest and was kind to those around her. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She was a member of Berean Baptist Church, and a devoted follower of Christ. 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Ockerman, her parents, Sarah & Rev. James Smith, siblings Robert (Maggie), Betty (Kenneith), Nettie, and Patti (Gene), one son, Steven, a beloved son-in-law, Jerry Claxon and brother-in-law Harry Ockerman. 

A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rev. Rick Arthur officiating. Interment will be in Old Wheelersburg Cemetery. 

The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday. 

Family requests memorial contributions be made in Mary’s memory to: The Children's Heart Foundation or any children's hospital.
