Mary Ann Newman, 78, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at her home in Casselberry, Fla after a long battle with cancer. Born on November 6, 1937 in Akron, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Randig, and graudated from South High School in Akron.
Mary Ann thoroughly enjoyed bingo, her morning cup of coffee and reading. She also enjoyed listening to music and was an avid 49ers fan! Most of all she adored her puppies, Rosco and Dixie, and her cat, Smokey.
In 1964 she married the love of her life, Claude Newman, Sr. and they moved to a small town named Portsmouth. Claude owned a roofing company and she was the homemaker.
Surviving are a son, Claude (Jamie) Newman, Jr. of Portsmouth, a stepson, Scott Fisher of Rittman, three daughters, Rebecca Ann (Walter) Johnson of Portsmouth, Catherine Marie (Tim) Bazell of Ironton and Raeleen (Raymond) Brown of Casselberry, Fla; a sister, Shirley Schneider of Akron; thirteen grandchildren, Richie, Brittany, Beth, Natosha, Phillip, Hannah, Claude III, Adara, Ethan, Faith, Preston, Ian and Kaitlyn; and two great-granddaughters, Kayley and Bayley.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Chaplain Peter Michael officiating. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
