Michael E. Cummings, 73, of West Portsmouth, died Tuesday evening with his family by his bedside at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on April 23, 1951, in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Lilly Flake Cummings and was a self-employed flooring contractor.
Mike enjoyed watching his Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and those westerns that everyone watches. He loved riding his John Deere tractor, keeping his lawn spotless and flying his American flag.
Also preceding him in death were his second wife, Sandra Lou Cummings, three brothers, Willard, Jerry and Terry and five sisters, Olive Veach, Lorrain Stonerock, Leona Snyder, Nora Riggs and Betty Coldiron.
Surviving is his daughter, Daria Cummings of Stout, three brothers, Lloyd (Debbie) Cummings, Jr. of Sciotoville, David Cummings of Lucasville and Paul Cummings of Portsmouth, a granddaughter, Kennedy Foley of Stout, a nephew, Tim Coldiron of Wheelersburg, a niece, Sherrie Chaney of Chillicothe, and many more nieces and nephews. And we can’t forget his beloved Shih Tzu, Sam, who went everywhere with him and his companion Terri Kay Buckle Chandler.
A service will be held at Noon on Monday, June 24th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Brent Saxton officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s after 11:00 a.m. on Monday.
