Oleta Thompson

Oleta F. Thompson, 78, of Portsmouth, died Monday, August 23, 2010 at her residence. Born on February 19, 1932, in Lewis County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Virgil and Ruth Glass Lewis. Oleta received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1976 from Ohio University, was a retired teacher from the Portsmouth City Schools, and was a member of the Central Church of Christ. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Floyd E. Thompson and two sisters, Carolyn Chaffin and Jane Sainopulos. Surviving are a son, Edward Aaron Thompson of Portsmouth, a daughter, Amy Thompson of Stout, a brother, Keith Lewis of Westerville, a sister, Phyllis Sax of Ojai, California, and five grandchildren. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, minister, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Portsmouth from 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
