Opal Whitt

June 12, 1944 — August 30, 2021

Opal Ann (Warren) Whitt, 77 of Columbus went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 30th, 2021 with her family by her side.  Born on June 12, 1944 in Vanceburg, KY, she was the daughter of Mary “Toots” Stratton Warren, currently of Columbus and the late Joseph Warren.

Also preceding her in death were her husband, Claude H. Whitt, a sister Mary Alice Whitt, and five brothers-in-law, James Whitt, Otis Whitt, Jerry Whitt, Larry Whitt and Duard Morman.

She attended North Moreland Elementary and East High School. She was employed by The Williams Shoe Factory and The Columbus Dispatch. What she valued most was being a devoted wife to her loving husband of 57 years and precious mother to her children.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her 97-year-old mother.

She attended Columbus First Christian Baptist church where she and her husband accepted Christ as their personal Savior.  They enjoyed praising and serving the Lord together the last years of their lives and wondered why they waited so long.

Opal will be lovingly remembered by her children, C. Harold (Sylvia) Whitt, Jr., Tammy Jo Whitt Smith, and Dreama Kay (Jeff) Dickens all of Columbus; two brothers, Gene (Sharon) Warren and Billy Joe (Susette) Warren, a sister Birdie (Harold) Wallace and several nieces and nephews. She will also be dearly missed by her best friends, Larry & Deloris Sayre and the Armstrong and Whitt families.

The family will receive guests at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE from noon until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4th.

A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home with Dr. Jeremy Kamer officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family requests that masks be worn in consideration of certain attendees that are immune compromised.

Memorial contributions may be made to the World for Christ Missions (memo In Memory of Opal Whitt), PO Box 132, Wheelersburg, OH 45694
