Patsy Salsbury

Patsy Ruth Sparks-Salsbury, 83, formerly from Rigrish Addition in Sciotoville, died Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in Vineyards of Concord in Frankfort. Born on June 18, 1929 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Charles Cassell and Mary Preston Cassell, was a retired dispatcher for Ohio Power Company, and real estate associate for Roy Sturgill Realty, Charles Euton Realty and Real Estate Gallery. Pat was a member of Mabert Road Baptist Church, where she was organist, Sunday school teacher, first female elder of the church, and was the proud organist for the Brant Funeral Homes in Sciotoville and Portsmouth for 40 years. She was an active member of Wheelersburg Order of Eastern Star #516, where she was past worthy matron, organist, chaplain, home representative, was Grand Representative to Minnesota, Mae E. Lee past matron’s former president from 1980-1983 and was a member of the White Shrine. Pat was a member of Phi Beta Kappa sorority at Shawnee State University. On March 31, 1950, she married the love of her life, Edward Sparks, who died suddenly on May 24, 1980. Also preceding Patsy in death were her second husband, Elmer Salsbury, and a brother, Goebel Cassell. Surviving are two sons, Michael Sparks of Frankfort and Robert (Laura) Sparks of Carroll; a daughter, Linda (Everett) Virgin of Frankfort; a sister, Peggy Cree of Capac, Michigan, and her precious grandchildren, Alyssa, Kailey, Brandi, Evangalina, and Jonathan. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Jack Williams and David Frazie, ministers, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Brant’s from 4 until 7 p.m. on Friday. An Eastern Star service will be 7:00 pm. Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Heartland.
