Paul Lawrence Sisler, 68, of Wheelersburg, died Monday, October 30, 2023, in the Huntington Veterans Hospital. Born on September 22, 1955, in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Thomas and Blanche Conley Sisler. He was a retired gang foreman for CSX with 20 years of service.
Paul attended Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist Church, received an associate degree in welding at Shawnee State University, and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a survivor of a lung transplant several years ago.
Paul was a veteran of the Vietnam War and had great respect for the American flag.
Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Angela Rene Sisler and a sister, Beverly Ellis.
Surviving are his wife, the love of his life, Jean Anne Hensley Sisler, four sons, Johnnie (Dee) Garrett of South Webster, Richie (Misty) Garrett of Sciotoville, Brian (Rebecca) Sisler and Steven Sisler, all of Wheelersburg, a brother, Thomas (Tammy) Sisler of Hartford City, IN, a sister, Barbara Davis of Albemarle, NC, grandchildren, Erin Clark, Kayla Garrett, Jordan Garrett, Jonathan Garrett, Zachary Garrett, Morgan Clevenger, Makenzie Sisler, Mariah Sisler, Sammy Canter, Evan Canter, Breanna Flannery and Ryan Dingess and great-grandchildren, Mya Hill, Camden Lowry, Tyler Meincke, Elijah Meincke, Brinleigh Garrett, Kensley Holbrook, Trystan Head, Logan Goodrich, Damien Ballard, Jaxon Canter, Tucker Canter, Aubry Canter, James Canter, Kyler Flannery and Karter Flannery.
A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 4th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Dennis Hankins officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens with military honors by the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion.
The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Memorial gifts may be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
The American flags, along with the U.S. Army flag, will fly on the avenue in honor of our brave soldier, Paul Sisler.
