Reverend Dennis Kiper, 92, of Portsmouth, died Friday, July 1, 2011 at the SOMC Hospice Center. Born on April 17, 1919 in Villisca, Iowa, he was a son of the late Albert and Ethel Hall Kiper. Dennis was an Army veteran of WWII and a retired Church of the Nazarene Pastor. He also was a member of the Shawnee Golden Bears and the R.S.V.P. Surviving are his wife, Vera Sell Kiper, two sons, James D. (Beth) Kiper of West Chester and Kenneth L. (Martha) Kiper of Newfields, NH, seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also preceding him in death were four brothers, Wilbert, Arthur, Delbert and Lyle Kiper and two sisters, Violet Beery and Ruth Fender. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Ed Simons and Dr. Trever Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends at the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nazarene Missionary Health Care.
