Robert Crabtree

Robert Lee Crabtree, 84, of Wheelersburg, died Thursday, August 22, 2019, at the SOMC Hospice Center.  Born on September 7, 1934 in Oak Hill, he was a son of the late Donald and Leona Christian Crabtree and was a member of Franklin Furnace Church of the Nazarene.

Bob was formerly employed at Detroit Steel Corporation and Hempstead Manor, was a member of Western Sun Masonic Lodge #91 and was an avid fisherman and loved his woodworking shop.  He most recently enjoyed attending Scioto Furnace International Pentecostal Church of Christ when Cline McCallister was pastor.  One of his most enjoyable “experiences” was bringing a message and conducting services at Hempstead Manor for over 24 years.  Bob was an excellent singer, and sang in several bands.  He touched many people with his music.

Surviving are three daughters, Juanita (Robert) Horsley, Susie (Dave) Utley and Bobbi Crabtree, all of Lucasville three sisters, Juanita (Bill) Gammon of Sciotoville, Karen (Jon) Peyton of South Webster and Lois Dunham of Wheelersburg; his former wife, Charlotte Crabtree of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, Lance, Christian, Taylor, Zach, Mackenzie and Isaac; and a great-granddaughter, Adelynn.

Also preceding him in death were a daughter, Robin Crabtree, a brother, Donald Wayne Crabtree and a brother-in-law, Dick Dunham.

A service will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor Tim Throckmorton officiating.  Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.
