Roger W. Shamhart, 79, of Sciotoville, died Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the SOMC Hospice Center with his family by his bedside. Born on September 8, 1936 in South Webster, he was a son of the late Earl and Regina Lananne Shamhart.
Roger attended Rio Grande College and the Sciotoville Church of the Nazarene.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Fraternal Order of Eagles in New Boston, and the American Legion Post #471.
Also preceding him in death were his wife, Zelma Parker Shamhart; a daughter, Monya Henderson; four brothers, Marvin, Kermit, Carl and Dale; and a sister, Darlene.
Survivors include a son, Keith (Kim) Shamhart of South Webster; two daughters, Kawannah Worthington (John Bowling) of Sciotoville and Regina King (Steve) of Pekin, IL; a stepson, Keith (Kim) Carver of De Berry, TX; seven grandchildren, Tracy, Billy Alan, Misty Dawn, Brandon, Greg, Lucretia and Allyson; three great-grandchildren and his special friend, Sandi Lawyer.
A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Chad Garinger officiating. Interment will be in South Webster Cemetery with military honors by the James Dickey Post #23 of the American Legion.
The family will receive guest at Brant’s in Sciotoville from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be made to the SOMC Hospice Center.
The flags on the avenue will be proudly flown in honor of Roger Shamhart.
