Ruth M. Pogue, 89, of Portsmouth, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Hill View Health Care Center. Born on September 1, 1924 near Madison in Jefferson County, Indiana, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Mame Nicklaus Andress and former teller at National City Bank in Sciotoville and former secretary at the Gill Funeral Home. Active in the Sciotoville community, she wrote the weekly Sciotoville column in the Scioto Voice. Ruth was a member of the Sciotoville Christian Church.
Also preceding her in death were her husband, Edward L. “Buzz” Pogue in 1996, and three brothers, Kenneth (Nola), Harold and John Andress.
Surviving are two sons, Edward Leland Pogue II of Columbus and Brian Scott Pogue of Portsmouth; a daughter, Belinda Jo (Dane) Allen of Minford; a grandson, Lance Michael (Tiffany) Allen of Wheelersburg; two great-grandsons, Lucas Michael Allen and Leo Matthew Allen; a brother-in-law, John A. Pogue of Indianapolis; and sisters-in-law, Geneva Andress of Madison, Ind. and Bernice Andress of Hanover, Ind.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29 th , at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Rev. Richard North officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Brant’s from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
