Thelma L. Riffe, 86, of Wheelersburg, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at the Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born February 20, 1924 in Portsmouth, she was a daughter of the late Chester and Edith Colvin Cooper, was a member of Dogwood Ridge First Church of Christ, and a devoted homemaker. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Vern Riffe, brothers James and Earl Cooper, and a sister, Catherine Cantrell. Surviving are a son, Skip Riffe of Wheelersburg, 3 daughters, Cathy Skiver of Wheelersburg, Verna Riffe Biemel of Cleveland and Becky Hewitt of Cincinnati; a brother, Don Cooper of Chillicothe, sisters Doris Kiser of Houston, TX and Shirley DeCamp of Sciotodale; 7 grandchildren, Chris, Nathan, and Jeremy Skiver, Elizabeth and Andy Hewitt, Micah Riffe Hammond and Vernal G. Riffe, IV (Nick); and 10 great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Hannah, Sydney, Allison, Aubrey, Avery and Aiden Skiver, Shelby and Skylar Hammond and Emma Riffe. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Dogwood Ridge First Church of Christ with Randy Wickham and Gary Heimbach, ministers, officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the Brant Funeral Home in Sciotoville from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday and at the church one hour prior to the service.
