Tommy Joe Gifford , 60, of Springfield, formerly of Piketon, died Saturday, April 27, 2013 at home. Born on March 19, 1953 in Portsmouth, he was a son of the late Raymond and Viola Benedict Gifford and was a member of New Life Family Worship Center in North Moreland. Tommy was a former Piketon youth league football coach and an avid outdoorsman. Also preceding him in death were a brother, Raymond Gifford and sister-in-law, Linda Gifford. Surviving are his wife, Denise Kuhner Gifford, two daughters, Angela Miller and Karmin (Jeremy) Miller of Lucasville; two stepdaughters, Kristin Kinnison of North Moreland and Stephanie (Marc) Montgomery of Portsmouth; three brothers, Mike (Bernadine) Gifford of Sciotoville, James L. Gifford of Dayton and Terry Lee (Sharon) Gifford of Wheelersburg; a sister, Janet Potts of Fairborn; a sister-in-law, Helen Gifford of Springfield; 6 grandchildren and a great-grandson. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the New Life Family Worship Center, 1601 Harrisonville Avenue, North Moreland, with Pastors James and Mike Gifford officiating. Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion. The family will receive friends at the church after 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Arrangements are under the direction of the BRANT FUNERAL SERVICE IN SCIOTOVILLE.
