Virginia Maguire

Virginia “Rose” Maguire, 89, of Portsmouth, died Friday, September 02, 2011, at Hillview. Born on July 21, 1922 in New Boston, she was a daughter of the late Julius Calvin and Emma Albertson Walker Harris. Rose was a retired telephone operator for the General Telephone Company and a member of the Portsmouth First Church of the Nazarene. Also preceding her in death was her husband of 29 years, Rodger Maguire in 1990, her only son, J. Timothy Maguire in 1998, and eight brothers and sisters. Surviving are her daughter, Angela Odle of Sciotoville, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Edgewood Abbey Mausoleum with Phillip Carver officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Sciotoville from Noon – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
