Walter Marvin Charles, 85, of Wheelersburg, died Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at home, with his family by his bedside. Born on March 23, 1931 in Scioto County, he was a son of the late Roy Mack and Mary Ellen Cooper Charles. Marvin was an Army veteran and a self-employed truck driver.
Also preceding him in death were his first wife, Dolores Ellen Moore on January 31, 1981; a daughter, Belinda Rae Charles in 1951; a great-grandson, Quintin Howard in 2013; four brothers, Raymond Charles, Roy Charles, Pete Charles and Paul Charles; and two brothers-in-law, Delmar Smith and Jack Hammonds.
Survivors include his wife, Karen McCoy Shupert Charles, whom he married June 14, 1985; three sons, Roy Mack (Alice) Charles, Marc (Rosie Queen) Charles, Paul (Kimberly) Shupert, all of Wheelersburg; three daughters, Dee Dee (David) Howard of Sciotoville, Bonny Dillow of Sciotoville and Sara (Bo) Cupp of Sammamish, WA; three sisters, Phyllis (David) Charles Dyer Vahoviah of Norfolk, VA, and Grace Charles Smith and Jody Charles Hale Hammonds, both of St. Petersburg, FL; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; thirty great-great grandchildren and a special niece, Ann Marie Moore Dunn of Sciotoville.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Saturday at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Gary Selby officiating. Interment will be in Vernon Cemetery. The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 10:00 a.m. until Noon on Saturday. Memorial gifts may be made to East High School Print Shop.
