Willard Cummings

Willard M. Cummings, 78, of Rubyville, died Friday, March 23, 2018, at the SOMC Hospice Center with his family by his bedside.  Born on April 9, 1939 in Carter, KY, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Lillie Flake Cummings, and was a member of Bonser Run Outreach Church.  Willard was retired as a mail carrier for the United States Post Office.

A very proud veteran of the Viet Nam War, Willard was a member of the U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Air Force, with over 20 years of service.

Also preceding him in death were a brother, Jerry Cummings, and four sisters, Olive Veach, Leona Snyder, Nora Riggs and Lorrain Stonerock.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Joyce Holbrook Cummings, a son, Patrick (Marsha) Cumming of Circleville; a daughter Helen McClary of McDermott; five brothers, Lloyd (Debbie) Cummings, Jr., Terry Cummings of Wheelersburg, Mike Cummings of West Portsmouth, David Cummings of Lucasville and Paul Cummings of West Portsmouth; a sister, Betty Coldiron of Sciotoville; five grandchildren, Dale (Tara) McClary, Drew (Ashley) McClary, Elizabeth Cummings, Anthony Adams and Arica Adams; five great-grandchildren, Luke, Ison, Sophia, Paisley and Emersyn and several nieces and nephews.

A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27th, at the BRANT FUNERAL HOME IN SCIOTOVILLE with Pastor Glenn Lewis officiating.  Interment will be in Scioto Burial Park.  Military honors will be rendered by the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Honor Detachment and the James Dickey Post of the American Legion.

The family will receive guests at Brant’s from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday.

The flags on the avenue will fly in honor of the brave veteran of both the Army and Air Force, Willard Cummings.  The Air Force flag will fly singly.
