William “Bud” Royal, 53, of Portsmouth, went home to be with his Lord after a long illness, on Friday, August 6, 2010. Born on April 18, 1957, in Honolulu, HI, he is survived by his parents, Judy Craft (Bazel) Jenkins of Chillicothe and William R. (Sharon) Royal of Portsmouth. Bud attended the Cedar Street Church of Christ in Christian Union, where he was recently saved, was a retired member of the Brothers of the Wheel, was an Army veteran, and was a former crane operator for Metric Construction. Also surviving are one son, William R. (Courtney) Royal of Sciotoville, one daughter, Diana (Mayo) Campbell of New Boston, one step-daughter, Patricia Tackett of Otway, one brother, Robert (Wanda) Royal of Knoxville, TN, one step-brother, Mike (Peggy) Craft of Lucasville, two sisters, Donna (Mike) Lilly of McDermott and Patty (Jack) Shaw of Portsmouth, and two step-sisters, Pam (Larry) Spires of Rubyville and Debbie (Tim) Skaggs of McDermott. Bud is also survived by six grandchildren, Falicia, Whitney, Kayleigh, Torrie, Gracelyn, and Jaden, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Preceding him in death was a stepbrother, Billy Craft. A funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Monday at the Brant Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Gary Heimbach officiating. Interment will be in Haverhill Cemetery with military honors by the James Dickey Post of the American Legion. The family will receive friends at Brant’s in Portsmouth from 2 to 4 p.m. & 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday and one hour before the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Toys for Tots.
